Founding Engineer - Remote Opportunity in Restaurant Tech

About the Role

We are seeking a Founding Engineer to join our dynamic team in building the operating system for the restaurants of the future. This Founding Engineer remote position offers the chance to work with a profitable, Tier 1 VC-backed startup, where your contributions will directly impact over 400 independent restaurants.

What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain core product features that automate restaurant operations, significantly reducing manual labor.
• Collaborate closely with a small team, including the founder and senior engineers, to turn messy problems into working software quickly.
• Utilize your deep understanding of Typescript for both front-end and back-end development.
• Implement software design patterns to enhance backend performance and reliability.
• Manage live production workloads in the cloud, ensuring high availability and scalability.
• Write efficient queries and design schemas for relational databases, facilitating seamless DB changes.
• Leverage the latest AI and computer vision technologies to transform restaurant workflows.
• Participate in an agile development environment, delivering features in rapid cycles.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in shipping and maintaining production-level software.
• Proficient in Typescript and backend development.
• Experience with cloud providers and managing production workloads.
• Strong skills in relational databases, including query writing and schema design.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team and share tools/techniques that enhance productivity.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry.
• Familiarity with AI and computer vision applications.
• Previous experience in a startup environment.
