About the Role
CloudZero is seeking an Engineering Co-Op to join Team Cirrus, the group responsible for building and evolving CloudZero’s Kubernetes cost insights capabilities. This Engineering Co-Op remote position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-evolving area of technology. As Kubernetes adoption among our customers approaches 100%, your contributions will be essential in helping them understand their Kubernetes spend and performance.
What You'll Do

- Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and your mentor on solutions that ship to real customers.
- Participate in team rituals like standups, planning, retros, and demos.
- Contribute to internal improvements - from monitoring and testing to documentation and automation.
- Transition into the team's day-to-day engineering work for the second half of your co-op.
Requirements
- A 2nd or 3rd year Computer Science undergraduate student (Spring 2026 Grad).
- Solid foundation in programming fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, etc.).
- Exposure to backend languages like Python or Go (schoolwork or personal projects is great!).
- Comfortable in a Linux-based development environment and using git.
- Excited to work on real-world systems and contribute to team outcomes.
- Curious, collaborative, and eager to learn - you ask questions and take ownership.
Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud-native technologies such as AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and Snowflake.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and its ecosystem.
- Prior experience in a team setting, whether through internships or academic projects.
What We Offer
- This is not a throwaway or shadowing role. Your work will ship to production, impact real customers, and matter to the team.
- You'll be supported by a dedicated manager, an assigned mentor, and a culture that values pairing, feedback, and experimentation.
- Learn how modern cloud-native systems operate at scale using technologies like AWS Lambda, Step Functions, Kubernetes, and Snowflake.
- Gain experience in writing production-ready code and deploying it safely to real systems.
- Understand how cross-functional product teams collaborate to deliver customer-facing value.
- Experience working in a professional engineering environment - from code review to incident response to celebrating a feature launch.
- Develop a strong understanding of how production systems are built and operated.
- Work on a project you can confidently talk about in future interviews (with real technical depth).
This Engineering Co-Op role at CloudZero offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies. You'll work on impactful projects that ship to production, supported by a dedicated mentor and team.
