About the Role

We're hiring a Documentation & Technical Writing Manager to join our remote team at Grafana Labs. This role is pivotal in enhancing our documentation and managing a team of talented Technical Writers. As a Documentation & Technical Writing Manager, you will play a crucial role in communicating complex technical information clearly and effectively to our developer audience.

What You'll Do

• Manage a team of technical writers, guiding them in producing high-quality documentation.
• Develop comprehensive documentation for developer audiences, ensuring clarity and usability.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to gather information and insights.
• Establish best practices for documentation processes and maintain high standards.
• Support a transparent project management process that encourages feedback and improvement.
• Engage actively with the open-source community to advocate for the technical writing discipline.

Requirements

• Experience in leading and writing developer documentation.
• Ability to manage remote teams across global time zones effectively.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Experience with docs-as-code, Markdown, Git, and GitHub.
• A player/coach mentality, willing to mentor and support team members.
• Experience with technical writing in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to understand and address organizational needs.
• Experience working with the open-source community is a plus.
