About the Role
We're hiring a Documentation & Technical Writing Manager to join our remote team at Grafana Labs. This role is pivotal in enhancing our documentation and managing a team of talented Technical Writers. As a Documentation & Technical Writing Manager, you will play a crucial role in communicating complex technical information clearly and effectively to our developer audience.
What You'll Do
- Manage a team of technical writers, guiding them in producing high-quality documentation.
- Develop comprehensive documentation for developer audiences, ensuring clarity and usability.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to gather information and insights.
- Establish best practices for documentation processes and maintain high standards.
- Support a transparent project management process that encourages feedback and improvement.
- Engage actively with the open-source community to advocate for the technical writing discipline.
- Focus on results while maintaining a healthy work-life balance for yourself and your team.

Requirements
- Experience in leading and writing developer documentation.
- Ability to manage remote teams across global time zones effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with docs-as-code, Markdown, Git, and GitHub.
- A player/coach mentality, willing to mentor and support team members.
- Experience with technical writing in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to understand and address organizational needs.
- Experience working with the open-source community is a plus.
