About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Cast Technician to join our team at the Orthopaedic & Spine Center of the Rockies. This remote Cast Technician position offers the opportunity to assist in orthopedic care while working alongside talented professionals in a supportive environment. As a Cast Technician, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional care to patients requiring immobilization.

What You'll Do

  • Assist physicians in applying plaster and fiberglass casts, ensuring patient comfort and understanding during procedures.
  • Instruct patients on cast care and recognize signs of potential complications.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures and maintain aseptic techniques.
  • Prepare patients for special procedures, including joint aspirations and arthrogram x-ray studies.
  • Fit custom bracing and teach patients proper ambulation methods using crutches, canes, and walkers.
  • Maintain inventory of orthopedic supplies and ensure timely procurement of necessary materials.
  • Support clinic staff with administrative tasks as needed, including scheduling and stocking rooms.
  • Act as backup for purchasing staff, verifying incoming supplies and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an Orthopedic Technician program or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of orthopedic surgery and cast management techniques.
  • Understanding of the musculoskeletal system and related anatomy.
  • Core competencies in communication, teamwork, and ethics.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic medical office environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Certification as an Orthopedic Technician.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR).
