About the Role

We are seeking a passionate Service Instructor - Sommelier to join our team at Les Roches Global Hospitality Education in Marbella, Spain. This role offers an exciting opportunity to educate and inspire the next generation of hospitality professionals while working in a dynamic and supportive environment. As a Service Instructor - Sommelier, you will play a crucial role in shaping students' understanding of wines and enhancing their service skills.

What You'll Do

  • Educate and train students in various aspects of wine service and oenology through practical classes.
  • Drive sales by recommending wine varieties to guests and supervising wine serving.
  • Collaborate with winemakers to renew selections and achieve better pricing.
  • Prepare and set up operations according to established criteria and protocols.
  • Control and preserve stock while implementing HACCP and product control measures.
  • Assist in teaching according to the syllabus for each group, providing feedback and support to fellow instructors.
  • Create and update wine lists in collaboration with the head sommelier and manager.
  • Organize wine tasting events and inform guests about the variety of wines available.

Requirements

  • Certification as a sommelier or a degree in hospitality is beneficial.
  • Food handling certificate is required.
  • High level of English proficiency is essential; Spanish is a plus.
  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a sommelier, wine steward, or in a hospitality role.
  • Extensive knowledge of wines and regions, along with strong oenology skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Proficiency in computer skills is an advantage.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to handle large volume service.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a teaching or training role within the hospitality industry.
  • Familiarity with local vineyards and wineries.
