About the Role

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Camp Counselors at the West Valley City Family Fitness Center. This part-time Camp Counselor position will allow you to work with children aged 5 to 12 years, providing a fun and safe environment while engaging them in various activities. As a Camp Counselor, you will play a crucial role in shaping the experiences of our campers. This position offers a starting pay of $13.50 per hour, with varying shifts from Monday to Friday, including some holidays. What You'll Do

  • Manage a group of up to 20 children, ensuring their safety and engagement during activities.
  • Assist in program planning based on educational and recreational themes.
  • Guide campers in participating in all activities while providing emotional support and encouragement.
  • Supervise campers and activities at all times, adapting programs to include all children.
  • Maintain safety standards and report any incidents to the Camp Coordinator.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team, assisting in tidying up after activities.
  • Be a positive role model and interact regularly with campers, parents, and the public.
  • Administer First Aid and CPR as needed, ensuring a safe environment for all participants.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 17 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED, or current enrollment in High School.
  • Experience working with children is preferred.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certifications or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Creative, energetic, and ready to have fun with campers.
  • Ability to enforce camp regulations while maintaining good public relations.
  • Must be able to work varying shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and evenings.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with children with disabilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
