About the Role

We are seeking a Business Manager - Remote to join the Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust team. This role is pivotal in supporting the Clinical Specialty Lead and Matron to enhance the operational and financial performance of the Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Endoscopy specialties. As a Business Manager, you will lead initiatives that ensure national and local access targets are met while driving improvements in service delivery and operational effectiveness.

What You'll Do

  • Provide strong leadership at the Specialty level, ensuring effective systems and processes are in place.
  • Manage the production of required deliverables while controlling risks and supporting team members in achieving their objectives.
  • Ensure approved budgets are utilized effectively, adhering to agreed procedures.
  • Establish and maintain strategic links with external partners and stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
  • Engage in proactive horizon scanning for developments related to Trust work or opportunities for involvement in health issues.
  • Document key learnings and support the development of professional abilities within the Trust.
  • Disseminate knowledge through report writing, ensuring technical accuracy and reliability.
  • Develop structures and systems that support the Trust’s sustainable development objectives.

Requirements

  • Graduate Level qualification or equivalent in Business Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • Postgraduate qualifications or equivalent applied learning in Business Management or related areas.
  • Proven operational management experience, ideally within the Health Service sector.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships.
  • Highly developed analytical skills and proficiency in ICT applications for data analysis.
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet specific deadlines.
  • Excellent presentation skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Experience in clinical quality and safety methodologies is desirable.

Nice to Have

  • Detailed knowledge of Clinical and Corporate Governance frameworks.
  • Experience in managing operating budgets and delivering financial surplus.
  • Understanding of clinical governance and risk management systems.
