About the Role

We are seeking a talented Backend Software Engineer to join our team at Primer. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will design and implement core backend services for high-performance, complex distributed systems. What You'll Do

• Design and implement core backend services for high-performance, complex distributed systems.
• Drive and utilize modern development practices such as BDD (Behavior Driven Development) and TDD (Test Driven Development).
• Create clear, modern, well-tested code that enhances our payment platform.
• Collaborate across teams in a product-driven environment, ensuring seamless integration of services.
• Take ownership of key technology decisions, building for scale and optimizing for output.
• Conduct code reviews and continuously seek ways to improve our development processes.
• Create detailed internal documentation for the projects you work on.

Requirements

• Experience coding in Python within modern, complex technical environments.
• Familiarity with testing frameworks and a strong approach to writing testable, maintainable code.
• Understanding of the entire development process, including design, development, and deployment.
• Highly motivated self-starter who values autonomy and is results-oriented.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Knowledge of Typescript and React.
• Prior experience in a startup environment.
