Associate Textile Designer - Handbags & Accessories (Remote)
About the Role
We're looking for an Associate Textile Designer to join our team remotely and bring our pop culture designs to life through our products. As an Associate Textile Designer, you will support the Non-Apparel/Handbag Art team and collaborate with the Handbag & Accessories Design and Product Development Teams for Hot Topic, BoxLunch, and Her Universe merchandise. This role operates on a hybrid schedule, requiring you to work from our HQ located in the City of Industry, CA three days a week.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the development of textile graphic designs, patterns, and prints.
- Support the needs of the textile designers to execute design concepts and other functions when necessary.
- Create original artwork for handbags and wallets, both licensed and non-licensed, following the direction of our design team.
- Produce print repeats from final artwork, editing, recoloring, and matching colors to Pantone standards.
- Utilize licensed assets creatively while adhering to licensor rules and guidelines.
- Use Photoshop and Illustrator to prepare, modify, and resize artwork, collaborating with product development and design teams to articulate printing and design techniques to factories.
- Partner with the HT Inc DTR Apparel Art teams when necessary.
- Provide color comments on PPs/Strikeoffs to Product Development.
- Create and revise Art specification pages for submission to the licensor for approval of collections.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, textile design, or a related field preferred or equivalent work experience.
- 1-2 years of graphic design/illustration work experience in a wholesale/vertical business, preferably in accessories, handbags/backpacks, and other non-apparel categories.
- Proficient in Illustrator and Photoshop; a good understanding of graphic design principles, creative thinking, and effective communication.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, with strong time management skills and excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, anticipate change, and maintain composure under pressure.
- Passion and knowledge of pop culture and the licenses that Hot Topic, BoxLunch, and Her Universe have.
- Team player – ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
