About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Assayer to join our team at Agnico Eagle Mines. This Assayer (Fly-In Fly-Out) position offers a unique opportunity to work remotely while contributing to our operations in Baker Lake, Nunavut, Canada. You will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and accuracy of our assay processes, promoting safety and environmental responsibility.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct fire assay processes, including weighing and preparation of mill and mine samples.
  • Perform fusing, pouring, and de-slagging of samples, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Validate sample identification using LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System).
  • Maintain fire assay equipment and manage consumables for cost efficiency.
  • Prepare sample beads for AA determination and conduct various analyses, including WAD-CN and TSS.
  • Report sample results after review, ensuring compliance with QA/QC criteria.
  • Participate in the Assay Lab inventory management system and maintain an organized work area.
  • Actively engage in safety practices and report any incidents or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in a science discipline (Analytical Chemistry preferred).
  • Proven relevant experience in an Assay Lab setting, particularly in sample preparation and fire assaying.
  • Intermediate computer skills, particularly with LIMS and analytical instruments.
  • Strong commitment to health and safety standards.
  • Ability to work in a Fly-In Fly-Out schedule, with 14 days on and 14 days off.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with carbon/sulfur analyzers.
  • Knowledge of environmental policies and regulations.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC processes in laboratory settings.
