Summer Cyber Security Intern - Remote

About the Role

We are excited to offer a Summer Cyber Security Intern position that allows you to work remotely while gaining invaluable experience in the field of cyber security. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work alongside industry professionals, contributing to vital security operations within our department. As a Summer Cyber Security Intern, you will engage in a variety of tasks that support the protection of our organization's digital infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Assist with vulnerability assessments and security audits to identify potential risks.
• Analyze security data and prepare reports for internal teams that directly influence the department’s security measures.
• Research and analyze emerging threats and vulnerabilities to keep our systems secure.
• Help with the creation and delivery of training materials on security best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the security of new projects.
• Attend team meetings and contribute to ongoing discussions on security improvement.
• Shadow senior team members and assist with day-to-day cyber security operations.
• Support the creation and maintenance of security documentation, including incident reports and security procedures.
• Participate in the review and analysis of security logs from various systems to identify vulnerabilities.

Requirements

• Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship.
• Major in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• At least one year of completed coursework in a relevant field.
• Knowledge of common cyber security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
• Familiarity with security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and SIEMs (Security Information and Event Management).
• Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Basic understanding of cyber risk management.
• Proficient in data manipulation using tools such as Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Nice to Have

• Experience with programming languages relevant to cyber security.
• Certifications in cyber security (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH).
• Previous internship experience in IT or cyber security.
