About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Officer (Advisor), Programmatic Impact to join the Gates Foundation. This role is pivotal in strengthening our programmatic collaborations with the Global Fund and WHO, ensuring effective implementation of our institutional engagement strategies. As a Principal Officer (Advisor) - Programmatic Impact remote position, you will work closely with senior members of Program Strategy Teams (PSTs) to enhance health outcomes globally.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate actively with Directors and Deputy Directors to inform programmatic strategies related to the Global Fund and WHO.
  • Advise PSTs on programmatic investments in relation to the Global Fund and WHO, reviewing investments at grant development stages.
  • Identify and develop co-investment opportunities between GHAF and PSTs/ARO for investments related to Global Fund and WHO.
  • Maintain relationships with disease and technical teams within the Global Fund and WHO to support effective collaboration.
  • Participate in disease situation rooms to inform foundation engagement with the Global Fund and WHO.
  • Represent the foundation on the Global Fund’s Grant Approvals Committee, engaging with PSTs/ARO on key issues.
  • Develop technical papers on disease issues to inform programmatic and governance positions with the Global Fund and WHO.
  • Engage in the development of the foundation’s institutional engagement strategies for the Global Fund and WHO.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience at a senior level in international health, particularly in HIV, TB, and/or malaria.
  • Demonstrated experience in technical and programmatic leadership with Global Fund and WHO.
  • Strong skills in strategy implementation and change management.
  • Ability to cultivate trust and manage relationships with flexibility and diplomacy.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed organization.
  • Ability to travel internationally up to 30% of the time.
