About the Role

We’re hiring a Staff / Tech Lead Software Engineer to join our innovative team at Filigran. This remote role is pivotal in shaping the future of our OpenGRC initiative, where you will be responsible for developing groundbreaking open-source solutions aimed at revolutionizing cyber threat management. As a Staff / Tech Lead Software Engineer, you will work closely with the Engineering Manager and a small, agile squad to define the technical architecture and build the MVP.

What You'll Do

  • Own the technical roadmap and system design for OpenGRC, architecting a clean, scalable Single Page App (SPA) and event-driven backend using Node.js and TypeScript.
  • Drive the implementation of complex engines, including a Correlation Engine that links CTI feeds to internal assets and a Quantification Engine that dynamically calculates financial risk.
  • Set engineering standards and mentor future hires, fostering a culture of technical excellence and psychological safety.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to translate business goals into technical reality, defining domain models for threat contexts and risk scenarios.
  • Lead technical alignment with the wider ecosystem, ensuring seamless integration with platforms like OpenCTI and OpenAEV.
  • Act as the technical face of OpenGRC in the open-source community, engaging with contributors and guiding architecture decisions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering, with a proven track record in mentoring software teams and leading technical topics.
  • Experience as a Staff/Tech Lead, owning the architecture and technical health of complex systems.
  • Mastery in system design, data modeling, and distributed systems.
  • Full stack expertise in React, TypeScript, and Node.js, with a focus on end-to-end type safety and performance optimization.
  • Strong communication skills, fluent in English and French, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC) or Cybersecurity sectors.
  • Familiarity with Cyber Threat Intelligence (CTI) standards like STIX/TAXII or the MITRE ATT&CK framework.
  • Interest in quantitative risk methodologies (e.g., FAIR model).
  • Experience maintaining or leading Open Source projects.
