Staff Software Engineer - Frontend Architecture (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our innovative team at Tekion, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of automotive technology. This Staff Software Engineer remote position focuses on frontend architecture, enabling you to define the Next.js application structure and mentor other engineers. You'll be at the forefront of developing complex, data-intensive user interfaces that enhance the automotive retail experience.

What You'll Do

• Own and evolve the frontend architecture, including Next.js App Router structure and state management strategy using Redux.
• Design and build complex UI surfaces such as real-time attribution dashboards and AI-powered campaign builders.
• Define a component design system that adheres to accessibility standards and provides comprehensive documentation.
• Establish frontend performance standards, focusing on Core Web Vitals and optimization techniques.
• Lead architectural decisions regarding Next.js, including streaming SSR and API route design.
• Integrate AI-native frontend patterns to enhance user experience and real-time data interactions.
• Drive code quality through design reviews and mentoring of junior engineers.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to define API contracts and ensure seamless integration with UI components.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in frontend engineering with a strong focus on React and Next.js.
• Expertise in Next.js 14+ App Router and React Server Components.
• Proficiency in TypeScript, ensuring type safety across components and API contracts.
• Deep understanding of Redux, including slice design and middleware patterns.
• Experience building data-intensive dashboards with real-time data capabilities.
• Familiarity with Elasticsearch-powered search UIs and performance engineering techniques.
• Experience in establishing component design systems with a focus on accessibility.
• Proven track record of mentoring engineers and enhancing team performance.

Nice to Have

• Experience with streaming AI-generated content into React components.
• Familiarity with micro-frontend patterns and visual regression testing using Storybook.
• Background in automotive retail or SaaS analytics platforms.
