Staff Software Engineer - Conversion Data Privacy

About the Role

We are hiring a Staff Software Engineer to join our team at Pinterest, focusing on conversion data privacy. This remote position offers the opportunity to lead the architecture and technical direction for our conversion data privacy platform, ensuring that our systems are compliant and secure.

What You'll Do

• Lead the technical strategy and architecture for conversion data privacy across access controls, de-identification, deletion, and privacy rules enforcement.
• Design and evolve core privacy infrastructure, including controlled environments for sensitive data and fine-grained authorization.
• Own de-identification pipelines for ads reporting, ensuring the separation of sensitive and non-sensitive data.
• Build and improve privacy frameworks and tooling that simplify safe and compliant conversion data usage.
• Drive operational excellence by defining SLAs and developing robust monitoring and alerting systems.
• Partner cross-functionally with ads, data, product, legal, and infrastructure stakeholders to translate legal requirements into technical designs.
• Mentor and uplevel engineers across multiple teams, establishing best practices for privacy-by-design.

Requirements

• BS+ in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, focusing on large-scale data systems.
• Strong proficiency in building data pipelines and services using Java, Scala, Kotlin, or Python.
• Experience designing secure, reliable systems and APIs, with a solid grounding in data modeling and access control.
• Meaningful experience in privacy-preserving data systems or large-scale analytics platforms.
• Proven ability to drive cross-team technical initiatives and work closely with product and data science teams.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with a track record of mentoring engineers.
