Staff Developer Advocacy Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We're hiring a Staff Developer Advocacy Engineer to join our innovative team at Grafana Labs. This fully remote position is open to candidates in Canada and offers a unique opportunity to work on the Interactive Learning Plugin, an open-source in-product learning experience that enhances user engagement without disrupting their workflow. As a Staff Developer Advocacy Engineer, you will ship real product code that directly impacts both Grafana Cloud and Grafana OSS, contributing to a project that is pivotal in educating users about our powerful visualization tools.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Build delightful interactive learning experiences inside Grafana.
• Ship features that enhance the learner experience, ensuring they are intuitive and scalable.
• Improve the onboarding process and completion tracking for users, making it motivating and useful.
• Enable non-engineers to contribute and author learning content by creating user-friendly workflows.
• Instrument learning flows to gather insights on user engagement and identify areas for improvement.
• Utilize AI-driven development workflows to enhance productivity and speed without compromising quality.
• Participate in an on-call rotation, taking ownership of the software you build.
• Engage in clear communication, writing documentation and design notes to support your work.

Requirements

• Strong experience with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code or Cursor.
• Solid software engineering fundamentals, capable of shipping production-grade changes.
• Familiarity with Grafana in real-world environments, understanding observability practices.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with TypeScript and/or Go is a plus.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes and the broader observability ecosystem (Prometheus, Loki, Tempo, Mimir, OpenTelemetry).

Nice to Have

• Meaningful contributions to open source projects.
• Full-stack development experience.
• Strong frontend or backend profiles are also welcome.
