Speech Language Therapist - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are excited to announce a Speech Language Therapist remote position with the Ministry of Education, where you will help shape the future of education in New Zealand. As a Speech Language Therapist, you will play a critical role in our region’s Learning Support team, working to understand the impact of children and young people’s communication needs in the context of their home, education setting, and community.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate closely with parents, caregivers, teachers, and other specialists to support children in developing their speech, language, and communication skills.
- Work holistically as part of a trans-disciplinary team to address complex needs.
- Utilize your specialist knowledge of theory, research, and practice related to speech-language, child development, and learning behavior.
- Translate specialist knowledge into practical information for families and educators.
- Coordinate service provision in a multi-agency setting.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Therapy or an equivalent qualification recognized by the New Zealand Speech-Language Therapists’ Association.
- Specialist knowledge of speech-language theory and practice.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse groups.
- Ability to apply the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and tangata whenuatanga.
- Willingness to adhere to Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.
Nice to Have
- Experience in educational settings.
- Knowledge of additional languages or dialects.
- Familiarity with digital communication tools for remote therapy.
