About the Role

We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager remote to lead our newest team at Okta, a company dedicated to making identity accessible and secure for everyone. As a Software Engineering Manager remote, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our identity solutions, ensuring that our products deliver a seamless user experience.

What You'll Do

  • Hire and bootstrap the Core Frontier team in Bengaluru, setting the technical bar and engineering culture for our growing presence in the region.
  • Work collaboratively with talented engineers, managers, and partners across Product, Security, Design, Architecture, and QA to deliver features that delight our customers.
  • Adapt and evolve engineering processes and best practices to ensure the team remains agile, healthy, and high-performing.
  • Prioritize the roadmap with stakeholders, providing the necessary context and technical clarity to unblock your team.
  • Conduct people management activities such as coaching, performance reviews, and team ceremonies.
  • Maintain a hands-on approach by participating in code reviews and architectural discussions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience, with at least 3 years in engineering management and a strong foundation as an individual contributor.
  • Experience leading teams that build highly reliable, secure, and scalable distributed systems.
  • A passion for coaching engineers and fostering technical growth.
  • Effective communication skills to build trust across different time zones and functions.
  • A systematic approach to tackling technical and organizational challenges.
  • The ability to remain technically capable, contributing to development processes and architectural strategy.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the Identity and Access Management (IAM) domain.
  • Familiarity with Node.js and AWS stack.
  • Experience designing and maintaining public-facing, secure APIs.
