About the Role

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer - Payments & Settlements to join our team at FDM Group. This remote software engineer position will focus on designing, building, and maintaining critical systems for payment processing in the financial sector. You will be part of a dynamic team that ensures the accuracy, reliability, and regulatory compliance of high-volume payment flows.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain backend services for payment clearing, settlement, and reconciliation.
  • Ensure the end-to-end flow of payments, from posting and clearing through to settlement and reconciliation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical designs.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of payment systems to ensure high availability and operational excellence.
  • Develop and maintain data models and workflows between payment networks and internal systems.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to system architecture and best practices while mentoring junior engineers.
  • Build automation around reconciliation and reporting workflows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of software engineering experience, particularly in backend systems for payments or financial services.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or C#.
  • Experience with relational databases and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with messaging systems, batch processing, and real-time flows.
  • Experience with APIs and integrating with third-party payment networks.
  • Knowledge of payments domain, including clearing and settlement flows.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent communication abilities.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD methodologies.
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements such as PCI and SOX.
