About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Virtualization Engineer to join our team at Human Technopole, based in Milan, Italy. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on advancing human health through innovative research. As a Senior Virtualization Engineer, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing our virtualization and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments.
What You'll Do
- Design and manage virtual infrastructure environments, including hypervisors and orchestration tools.
- Ensure high availability and resource optimization of virtualization platforms.
- Implement disaster recovery strategies and optimize performance for business-critical applications.
- Lead automation efforts and cross-functional collaboration to enhance infrastructure efficiency.
- Deploy and manage Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, focusing on user experience and image management.
- Utilize scripting models such as PowerCLI, Terraform, and Ansible for infrastructure automation.
- Collaborate with the CyberSecurity team to enforce security policies and harden virtualization environments.
- Conduct training sessions and mentor ICT team members to enhance capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in VMware infrastructure engineering or virtualization architecture.
- Expert-level knowledge of virtualization systems such as VMware, OpenStack, or Hyper-V.
- Strong experience with VDI infrastructure and Application Volumes.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Willingness to relocate to Italy.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Proficiency in automation scripting/systems such as PowerCLI, vRealize Automation, Terraform, or Ansible.
- VMware Certified (VCAP) or Citrix Certified Associate in Virtualization.
