About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer - Platform to join our dynamic team at Okta. As a Senior Software Engineer - Platform remote, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-impact tools that enhance developer productivity and automate workflows. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to provide secure access and authentication solutions to millions of users worldwide.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and Maintain Scalable Tools: Build internal services and utilities that support large-scale product development.
• Drive Efficiency: Identify and consolidate redundant tools to streamline engineering efforts across the organization.
• Automate Workflows: Create automated processes to eliminate repetitive tasks and boost developer productivity.
• Collaborate Broadly: Work closely with engineering and product teams to deliver impactful, shared solutions.
• Set the Standard: Establish and enforce best practices for the development, deployment, and maintenance of internal platform services.
• Ensure Reliability: Drive improvements in performance, security, and reliability, including participating in an on-call rotation for Tier-0 services.
• Innovate & Mentor: Explore emerging technologies to enhance our platform and provide technical guidance to team members.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience with a track record of building internal tools and automation.
• Strong skills in one or more languages, specifically Golang, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Node.js.
• Deep understanding of software architecture, microservices, and maintainability best practices.
• A proactive approach to identifying inefficiencies and solving them through code.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring tools, and maintaining high-availability services.
• Excellent documentation skills and a passion for knowledge sharing across teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with gRPC and microservices architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerization.
• Experience deploying and managing services within AWS and/or Azure.
