About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Development Manager, Engagement Growth to join our team at Twitch. This role is pivotal in enhancing viewer engagement through innovative software solutions. As a Senior Software Development Manager, you will lead a talented team of engineers to create systems that connect viewers with creators, ensuring a seamless experience for millions of users. This position offers the flexibility of hybrid work, allowing you to work from various locations including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York.

What You'll Do

• Lead one of three engineering teams focused on building engaging experiences for Twitch viewers.
• Design and implement consumer-scale services that power Video on Demand (VOD), Clips, and Stories.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and data scientists to deliver user-centric solutions.
• Develop a long-term roadmap for your team, guiding 10 engineers in their professional growth and career advancement.
• Utilize AWS applications at scale to enhance system performance and reliability.
• Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
• Identify user needs and translate them into actionable product features.
• Drive the adoption of Agile methodologies within the team to improve efficiency and collaboration.

Requirements

• BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience.
• 3+ years of experience as a software engineering manager.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering roles.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Golang, Python, C/C++, or Java.
• Experience in designing and architecting scalable systems.
• Proven ability to deliver customer-centric solutions based on user feedback.
• Experience in developing and managing large-scale consumer services.
• Familiarity with the AWS ecosystem is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Background in hiring and mentoring software engineers.
• Knowledge of full-stack or front-end development.
• Deep understanding of Golang.
• Familiarity with Twitch as a viewer or creator.
