Senior Site Reliability Engineer - Remote Role at Bloomreach

About the Role

Bloomreach is seeking a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join our innovative team. This remote role focuses on managing our in-memory database (IMF) and related services, ensuring smooth operations across our platforms. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our systems, which are built on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Kubernetes.

What You'll Do

• Manage and configure Kubernetes components to ensure high availability and performance.
• Handle incident responses and perform root cause analysis for critical issues, participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Create and maintain automation scripts and tools using Python and Go to streamline operations.
• Monitor system performance and plan for future scaling, ensuring adequate resources during peak times.
• Set up and maintain monitoring and logging systems to detect and address issues early.
• Ensure reliable backups and efficient recovery tools for our database.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers to ensure successful project delivery.
• Work closely with L2 support engineers for seamless operations and effective problem resolution.

Requirements

• Proven experience in DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE).
• Strong understanding of basic DevOps principles and cloud platforms, especially GCP.
• Proficiency in Kubernetes and CI/CD pipeline management, preferably in GitLab.
• Excellent scripting skills in Python, Go, or Shell for automation tasks.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as VictoriaMetrics and Grafana.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze and resolve incidents.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in remote teams.
• Adaptability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with logging tools and incident management.
• Experience with in-memory databases and Apache Kafka.
• Knowledge of additional programming languages like C++.
