Senior Security Engineer - Decentralized Finance

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Security Engineer to join our innovative team at Paradex. As a Senior Security Engineer remote, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our security architecture and practices, ensuring the safety of our decentralized finance platform.

Your Mission

As a vital member of our security team, you'll lead complex security initiatives across Paradex, serving as the technical authority on security architecture and best practices. You'll architect robust security systems that protect our blockchain infrastructure, smart contracts, and digital assets while driving security strategy through technical excellence and cross-functional collaboration.

What You'll Do

• Design & Secure: Architect and implement comprehensive security solutions for blockchain infrastructure, smart contracts, digital asset custody, cryptographic systems, and organizational security.
• Lead & Respond: Drive critical security initiatives and serve as technical authority during incident response and complex security assessments.
• Influence & Strategize: Shape company-wide security strategy by evaluating emerging threats, recommending tools and frameworks, and partnering with leadership to balance security with business objectives.
• Embed & Champion: Integrate security into product development through design reviews and threat modeling, elevating security knowledge and culture across the organization.

Requirements

• Expertise: 7+ years in security engineering with proven ability to lead complex technical projects.
• Blockchain Security: Strong knowledge of blockchain technology, smart contract security, and common vulnerabilities (reentrancy, front-running, oracle manipulation).
• Technical: Proficiency in multiple programming languages (Go, Python, Solidity) and experience with security tools (SIEM, vulnerability scanners, static/dynamic analysis).
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Cloud security experience (AWS/GCP/Azure) with deep knowledge of IAM, network security, authentication systems, and securing distributed systems.
• Leadership: Excellent communication skills and strong judgment in risk assessment and security trade-offs, with ability to balance paranoia and pragmatism.

Nice to Have

• Crypto Native: Background at a cryptocurrency exchange, DeFi protocol, or blockchain infrastructure company with hands-on exposure to high-stakes security operations and incident response.
• Technical Depth: Experience with formal verification, symbolic execution, or advanced security testing methodologies, along with certifications such as OSCP, GIAC, or equivalent.
• Security Leadership: Contributions to open-source security projects, security research publications, or a track record of discovering and responsibly disclosing vulnerabilities.
• Compliance: Experience with compliance frameworks (SOC 2) and securing systems in regulated environments.
• Security Mindset: Deep curiosity about emerging attack vectors and defensive techniques in crypto, with the ability to think like an attacker while building pragmatic defenses.
