Senior Money Laundering Reporting Officer - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to join our dynamic team at Crypto.com. This remote position is pivotal in ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations in the European Union, particularly within the Maltese regulatory framework. As the EU MLRO, you will play a crucial role in protecting the company, our customers, and the broader financial ecosystem through integrity and intelligence-led compliance.

What You'll Do

• Serve as the designated MLRO for the company, providing operational leadership to mentor the financial crimes team.
• Translate global compliance strategies into regional execution, ensuring consistent frameworks across business units.
• Drive automation through RegTech and AI-enabled controls to enhance monitoring and risk analytics.
• Provide timely, data-driven compliance reports and strategic recommendations to the Executive Committee and Board.
• Act as the primary contact for all AML/CFT matters with the FIAU and MFSA, investigating internal Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) and Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs).
• Design and implement a robust, risk-based AML/CFT Compliance Programme tailored to the unique risks of both MiCA and EMI business models.
• Supervise Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) processes for all clients.
• Develop and deliver high-quality AML/CFT training programs for all employees and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Minimum 12 years of experience in AML/CTF or financial-crime compliance, preferably as an approved MLRO or Deputy MLRO for a Malta-regulated entity.
• Demonstrable knowledge of the regulatory framework for Electronic Money Institutions (EMI) and the MiCA Regulation.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to stay abreast of rapidly evolving regulatory changes in the crypto and payment sectors.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English, capable of articulating complex compliance matters to various stakeholders.
