About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Machinist to join our team at Core Systems. As a Senior Machinist, you will set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and functionality of our rugged embedded systems designed for military and industrial applications.

What You'll Do

  • Set up and operate HAAS 3, 4, and 5-axis Vertical/Horizontal machine centers.
  • Utilize precision measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and CMM for quality assurance.
  • Mentor junior machinists and assist in developing their skills.
  • Write and edit programs manually at the controller, adjusting feeds and speeds for various materials.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections and complete setup sheets for part completion.
  • Design fixtures and work-holding devices to optimize production efficiency.
  • Apply knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, and metal properties in machining procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise during the machining process.

Requirements

  • 8 to 10 years of experience as a machinist in a job shop environment.
  • Proven experience with HAAS milling machines.
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associate degree or Certificate in Machine Technology preferred.
  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Familiarity with Master Cam software or equivalent for programming.
  • Excellent mathematics skills for problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in a military or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of MIL-SPEC testing standards.
  • Additional certifications in machining or CAD/CAM technologies.
