Senior Human Factors Engineer - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Human Factors Engineer to join our innovative team at Holtec International. This Senior Human Factors Engineer remote position offers the opportunity to contribute to the design of the SMR-300 small modular reactor, a groundbreaking clean energy solution. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of next-generation nuclear power plants.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement Human Factors Engineering (HFE) activities to support the design and licensing of new nuclear plants.
- Conduct task analysis and human error analysis to enhance safety and regulatory compliance.
- Support the design and review of Human-System Interfaces (HSIs), including control rooms and digital systems.
- Plan and execute HFE Verification and Validation (V&V) processes, ensuring integration across plant systems.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to present technical findings to stakeholders and regulators.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Ergonomics, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in Human Factors Engineering within nuclear or safety-critical industries.
- Expertise in task analysis, HSI design, and V&V processes.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with clients and regulatory bodies.
- Proven leadership in managing complex projects and mentoring junior engineers.
Nice to Have
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in a related field.
- Experience with NRC guidance and regulatory audits.
- Familiarity with Integrated System Validation (ISV) and digital HSI implementation.
