About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Human Factors Engineer to join our innovative team at Holtec International. This Senior Human Factors Engineer remote position offers the opportunity to contribute to the design of the SMR-300 small modular reactor, a groundbreaking clean energy solution. As part of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of next-generation nuclear power plants.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and implement Human Factors Engineering (HFE) activities to support the design and licensing of new nuclear plants.
  • Conduct task analysis and human error analysis to enhance safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Support the design and review of Human-System Interfaces (HSIs), including control rooms and digital systems.
  • Plan and execute HFE Verification and Validation (V&V) processes, ensuring integration across plant systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to present technical findings to stakeholders and regulators.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Ergonomics, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience in Human Factors Engineering within nuclear or safety-critical industries.
  • Expertise in task analysis, HSI design, and V&V processes.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with clients and regulatory bodies.
  • Proven leadership in managing complex projects and mentoring junior engineers.

Nice to Have

  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in a related field.
  • Experience with NRC guidance and regulatory audits.
  • Familiarity with Integrated System Validation (ISV) and digital HSI implementation.
