Senior Global Director of Country Operations - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

GiveDirectly is seeking a Senior Global Director of Country Operations to lead and enhance our operations across various country offices. This Senior Global Director of Country Operations remote position is pivotal in shaping the operational framework that will drive GiveDirectly’s growth over the next decade. You will be responsible for establishing robust country office foundations and improving our capacity to scale and serve recipients effectively, collaborating closely with our COO and other department leaders.

What You'll Do

• Build strong operational systems across HR, finance, procurement, compliance, IT, security, and risk management, ensuring that funds reach recipients swiftly and reliably.
• Oversee financial management across country offices, managing a budget exceeding $350 million annually.
• Create high-performing country office structures with clear roles, accountability, and effective operating routines.
• Coordinate and represent country office realities in global standards setting, resource allocation, and priority setting.
• Operationalize global standards to ensure they are contextually appropriate and rigorously implemented.
• Lead the launch and wind down of country offices as required.
• Initiate and lead high-impact projects that enhance our scalability and efficiency.
• Support crisis management efforts when necessary.

Requirements

• Proven track record of delivering results and managing increasing responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in influencing and managing diverse stakeholders, including change management.
• Ability to juggle multiple responsibilities effectively.
• Diverse work background, demonstrating adaptability across high-performing contexts, particularly in AI/tech, management consulting, or other private sectors.
• Extensive experience in operations across functions such as finance, HR, procurement, compliance, and risk management.
• Deep understanding of the operational landscape in Sub-Saharan Africa.
• Alignment with GiveDirectly’s values and mission.
