Senior Firmware Design Engineer - Remote Position
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Firmware Design Engineer to join our team in a remote capacity. This role requires a minimum of 7 years of experience in firmware development, particularly with Embedded Linux platforms. You will be expected to work collaboratively with our team during EST hours, ensuring a 6-hour overlap. This position is a 12-month contract with the potential for extension or conversion to a full-time role.
What You'll Do
- Design and maintain customized Linux images for production hardware, focusing on evolving and upgrading existing systems.
- Utilize platforms like Yocto, Buildroot, and OpenWRT to manage embedded operating systems.
- Implement and manage CI/CD build and release pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps and Jenkins.
- Integrate and manage open-source software within the firmware development process.
- Conduct troubleshooting for firmware issues in embedded systems.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity requirements in firmware projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance firmware functionality and performance.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in firmware development.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience as a Firmware Development Engineer.
- Strong background in Embedded Linux platforms, particularly with Yocto, Buildroot, and OpenWRT.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python programming languages.
- Experience with CI/CD build and release pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting firmware for embedded systems.
- Knowledge of non-volatile databases/data storage for embedded systems.
- Exposure to firmware projects that adhere to cybersecurity standards.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
