Senior Engineer - District Energy Systems (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join BUUK Infrastructure in our mission to provide exceptional district energy systems. This Senior Engineer remote position offers the opportunity to lead innovative projects that contribute to the UK’s net zero goals. You will play a crucial role in supervising design and engineering processes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality energy solutions.

What You'll Do

• Supervise and take responsibility for the delivery of designs and design reviews of district energy systems from inception to commercial operation.
• Coordinate and review modeling of technical and commercial aspects of district energy plant operations, including load assessments and plant selection strategies.
• Support project delivery and operations teams in managing client and contractor relationships effectively.
• Conduct site inspections and oversee commissioning of assets prior to adoption or handover from contractors.
• Review operational schemes and provide advice on extensions, expansions, and operational improvements.
• Produce reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications to support project objectives.
• Prepare project budgets and estimates to ensure financial viability.
• Ensure compliance with operational requirements and maximize whole life value in generation plant and distribution network designs.

Requirements

• Professional Membership of an appropriate institution (e.g., IMechE/CIBSE) at least at Associate level, working towards Chartered Engineering.
• Experience in design and specification of district energy projects at all stages of development.
• Proficiency in energy and hydraulic modeling and CAD tools.
• Extensive knowledge of district energy industry standards and health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor reports and presentations to various audiences.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of project management and contract management procedures.
• Experience in managing teams and mentoring junior engineers.
• Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.

• Chartered Engineering level membership of an appropriate professional institution.
• Experience in managing technical delivery across all project stages.
• Ability to influence decision-making and negotiate effectively.
