About the Role

We are seeking a talented Senior Backend Java Engineer to join our dynamic team at Welltech. As a Senior Backend Java Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing our internal payments platform, ensuring it is robust, scalable, and efficient.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Frontend/Backend Engineers, Infrastructure, QA, and Product Managers to design and implement innovative solutions.
• Translate functional and non-functional requirements into scalable, reliable software that enhances user experience.
• Develop, deploy, and maintain high-performance microservices using Spring Boot, owning your services end-to-end.
• Manage deployments across Kubernetes clusters, ensuring minimal downtime and smooth rollouts.
• Champion system excellence by proactively identifying bottlenecks and proposing architectural improvements.
• Drive engineering best practices, including clean code, test automation, and continuous integration.
• Mentor team members and lead engineering initiatives, influencing coding standards and supporting critical decisions.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in building robust applications using Java in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of microservices architecture and experience designing and scaling distributed systems.
• Deep experience with the Spring Boot ecosystem, including Spring MVC, RESTful services, and Spring Data.
• Solid experience with relational databases like PostgreSQL, including query optimization and data architecture.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, particularly AWS, and managing services in Kubernetes.
• Comfortable working with REST, gRPC, and asynchronous communication patterns.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation practices for safe releases.
• High proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the fintech domain, understanding industry-specific challenges.
• Knowledge of stream processing with Kafka and event-driven architecture.
• Familiarity with The Twelve-Factor App methodology for cloud-native service design.
