Senior DevOps Engineer - Cloud-Native Solutions

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join our innovative team at JPS Tech Solutions. This Senior DevOps Engineer remote position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge cloud-native solutions for Viasat’s global satellite network. You will collaborate closely with software and network teams to automate deployments, manage updates, and ensure systems operate smoothly and securely.

What You'll Do

• Build, deploy, and test Helm Charts, ArgoCD applications, and Terraform configuration files.
• Develop procedures, scripts, and playbooks to automate software and COTS application package updates.
• Build software packages and deploy/test them in containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Automate Linux operating system updates and patches.
• Deploy and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Track software bugs and security vulnerabilities, ensuring timely remediation.
• Develop and maintain automated software build, test, and deployment processes including CI/CD pipelines.
• Collaborate with software, network, and systems engineering teams to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency of global satellite systems.
• Administer and troubleshoot Linux/Unix servers and maintain TCP/IP networking configurations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, software engineering, or DevOps roles.
• 10+ years of experience scripting in Python, Bash, or similar languages.
• Strong experience with deployment automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform.
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub, Artifactory, ArgoCD, Make, etc.
• Deep understanding of software build processes and automation principles.
• Extensive experience administering Linux/Unix servers.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and networking protocols.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure deployment and management, preferably AWS.
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).

Nice to Have

• 3+ years working with virtualization technologies (ESXi, OpenStack).
• Prior experience with large-scale software deployment in global satellite or telecom systems.
• Exposure to cloud-native architectures and microservices deployment.
