About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our dynamic team in the FinTech sector. As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will play a crucial role in empowering renters by enhancing our backend systems and services.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, test, and scale backend services and APIs that support consumer products and partner integrations.
- Build and maintain robust, fault-tolerant distributed systems with multiple external dependencies.
- Implement service APIs for web and mobile applications to streamline rent payment processing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, and Customer Success to deliver impactful features.
- Translate requirements into technical specifications and lead the architecture of scalable solutions.
- Own the full lifecycle of services, focusing on deployment, monitoring, and optimization for performance.
- Contribute to the evolution of service-oriented architecture, REST APIs, and scalable system design.
- Develop risk management platforms, including rules engines and machine learning fraud detection systems.
- Mentor junior engineers and promote best engineering practices through code reviews.
- Ensure observability and reliability of services using monitoring tools and industry best practices.
Requirements
- 5 to 6+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience with Java and its ecosystem.
- Proficiency in Java frameworks such as Spring, Gradle, and JUnit.
- Experience with distributed, service-oriented architectures at scale.
- Familiarity with REST API design and mobile API best practices.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services including EKS, Aurora RDS, and DynamoDB.
- Knowledge of containerization with Docker/Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with distributed teams.
- Proven ability to mentor junior engineers and elevate technical standards.
Nice to Have
- Experience with big data platforms like Snowflake.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as DataDog.
- Experience in risk engineering and production implementation of fraud policies.
