Senior Backend Developer - Digital Healthcare Solutions

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Backend Developer to join our distributed team at verkstedt. As a Senior Backend Developer, you'll have the opportunity to shape and evolve large-scale backend systems, focusing on code, not bureaucracy. What You'll Do

• Design and develop scalable backend services using server-side JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js), relational databases (PostgreSQL), caching (Redis), and message queues (RabbitMQ).
• Build performance-critical services using systems programming languages like Rust.
• Architect robust backend services that handle high throughput while meeting strict healthcare compliance requirements.
• Work with modern cloud infrastructure, including containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) on platforms like GCP and AWS.
• Contribute to open-source projects and collaborate with the team on fun projects during our Open Fridays.

Requirements

• 4-5 years of hands-on backend development experience.
• Strong experience with server-side JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js, Express).
• Experience with systems programming languages for performance-critical services (Rust).
• Solid understanding of relational databases and query optimization (PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with caching and message queues (Redis, RabbitMQ).
• Experience with API design (REST).
• Experience building and operating distributed systems.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS).

Nice to Have

• Fluency in German.
• Experience with healthcare compliance requirements.
