Senior Back-End Serverless Developer - U.S. Remote
About the Role
We are hiring a Senior Back-End Serverless Developer to join our team at Unison. This position is primarily remote, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States, with occasional office visits required. As a Senior Back-End Serverless Developer, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining our serverless applications using AWS technologies. Your expertise in TypeScript and GraphQL will be essential to our mission of powering the business of government.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain GraphQL APIs using TypeScript with AWS API Gateway, Lambda, and DynamoDB.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CDK and AWS SDK.
- Deploy releases and hotfixes to production environments efficiently.
- Debug issues in production or development environments to ensure smooth operations.
- Write unit and integration tests as part of each feature and bug fix.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with front-end engineers and product stakeholders to deliver robust and maintainable systems.
- Apply AWS best practices for security, performance, monitoring, and cost optimization.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards to support continuous improvement across the team.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience in back-end software development.
- Strong proficiency with TypeScript and experience with GraphQL and schema design.
- Familiarity with AWS services including DynamoDB, API Gateway, Lambda, and Event Bridge.
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, API design, serverless architecture, and database design.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows.
- Able to perform root cause analysis on issues within the application.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of DynamoDB Single Table Design.
- Experience with OpenSearch and Amazon SageMaker for ML model deployment and integration.
- Familiarity with AWS CodePipeline for CI/CD automation.
- Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD).
- Knowledge of FedRAMP or other certification processes.
