About the Role

TRM Labs is seeking a Senior AI Engineer (AI Automation) to join our mission of building a safer world. This Senior AI Engineer remote position focuses on leveraging AI technologies to create innovative solutions for law enforcement and financial institutions. You will play a crucial role in designing and building AI-powered applications that enhance our internal operations and drive measurable business outcomes.

What You'll Do

  • Design, build, and own full-stack, AI-powered internal applications, including backend services, APIs, data storage, and user-facing interfaces.
  • Develop custom agentic solutions using state-of-the-art AI models (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) to automate workflows and augment decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to identify their most critical challenges and translate those needs into technical solutions.
  • Own projects end-to-end, from ideation and architecture through delivery, iteration, and long-term maintenance.
  • Continuously evaluate the impact of your solutions, iterating based on measurable business outcomes.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of full-stack software engineering experience, particularly in building scalable web applications, services, and APIs.
  • Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and/or Python, with experience in frontend development (React or similar frameworks).
  • Experience with backend systems and various datastores (Postgres/pgvector, Pinecone, Redis) and API design.
  • Demonstrated curiosity and hands-on experience with AI tools and applications.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to Have

  • Direct experience integrating automated AI Evaluation/Testing/Observability suites.
