About the Role

We are seeking a Seasonal Civil Engineer I - Construction Access Permits to join our team remotely. This role will be pivotal in managing construction access permits and ensuring compliance with regulations. As a Seasonal Civil Engineer I, you will collaborate with the Construction Permit team and engage in field investigations to support our mission.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct field investigations to gather information related to construction, maintenance, and environmental issues.
  • Inspect construction operations to ensure compliance with DCR permit requirements.
  • Coordinate with permitting staff to resolve issues of non-compliance.
  • Monitor ongoing work to ensure it adheres to permitting conditions.
  • Prepare reports on field observations and any identified problems.
  • Visit job sites to familiarize yourself with projects and establish site contacts.
  • Conduct on-site meetings with contractors and DCR staff.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • At least two years of full-time experience in civil engineering work, including areas such as construction, survey, or environmental engineering.
  • Ability to read and understand topographic maps and sketch plans.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to multiple projects and work outdoors in varying climatic conditions.
  • Possession of a current and valid Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in project coordination and site inspections.
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts regulations and permitting processes.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Commonwealth.
