About the Role

We're hiring a Sandbox Engineer to join our team at Flashbots. This remote position offers you the chance to take end-to-end technical ownership of our auction sandbox, ensuring its reliability and ease of use. As a Sandbox Engineer, you will work closely with various teams to drive innovation and maintain high operational standards.

What You'll Do

  • Own reliability end-to-end for the auction sandbox and related services, including deployment, upgrades, incident response, and operational hygiene.
  • Audit and consolidate scattered components into a coherent system with a clear roadmap and interfaces.
  • Build and automate containerized environments for latency-sensitive workloads, ensuring reproducible builds and safe defaults.
  • Create comprehensive operator and user documentation, including runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and known failure modes playbooks.
  • Collaborate with teams across TEE, infrastructure, and product to enhance sandbox capabilities while tightening security and improving developer experience.

Requirements

  • Experience operating Linux production systems with real ownership, including on-call responsibilities and long-term maintenance.
  • Strong fundamentals in Linux and networking, with the ability to debug processes, sockets, and filesystems.
  • Hands-on experience with containers (Docker/Podman) and familiarity with orchestration.
  • A proven track record as a DRI for complex services, focusing on reliability and documentation.
  • User empathy, with a focus on understanding constraints and workflows before implementing changes.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to confidential computing or adjacent isolation technologies.
  • Experience with reproducible build pipelines or hardened execution environments.
  • A history of maintaining open-source infrastructure or running a serious homelab setup.
