About the Role

We're hiring a Remote Senior Staff Software Engineer to join our Benefits Advisory team at Gusto. This role is pivotal as we transition to an AI-native company, focusing on the architectural evolution of our benefits platform. You'll be instrumental in designing and building a foundational platform that allows customers to explore, apply for, and maintain their benefits.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the architectural design for scalable benefits systems that enhance customer experience.
  • Develop full-stack solutions that integrate marketing, sales, and engineering efforts.
  • Create clear system boundaries to enable efficient reuse and increased scalability.
  • Transform benefits shopping and renewal flows to offer a wider variety of products quickly.
  • Implement AI-driven interfaces to deliver a delightful benefits shopping experience.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Senior Staff Software Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong background in full-stack development, including experience with modern frameworks and languages.
  • Experience in designing scalable systems and architectures.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and their application in software development.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the benefits or HR technology space.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and microservices architecture.
  • Previous experience in a startup environment.
