Remote Human Resources Director - Employee-Owned Company
About the Role
We are seeking a Remote Human Resources Director to join Lewis Services, the second-largest utility vegetation management company in North America. In this role, you will serve as a strategic and operational HR leader within a unionized construction environment, ensuring compliance with various labor laws while fostering a vibrant team culture.
What You'll Do
- Lead the HR strategy and operations, ensuring alignment with company goals and compliance with NLRA, FLSA, Davis-Bacon, OSHA, and other applicable laws.
- Oversee employee relations investigations and develop proactive strategies to enhance workplace culture.
- Drive the recruiting strategy for skilled trades and corporate roles, ensuring we attract top talent.
- Develop succession plans for critical field leadership roles to ensure continuity and growth.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including turnover and labor cost metrics to assess HR effectiveness.
- Balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution, actively engaging with employees and leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field is required.
- 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a unionized construction or skilled trades environment.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state labor laws.
- Experience supporting a multi-site, field-based workforce.
- Proven ability to influence and partner with senior leadership.
Nice to Have

- Familiarity with construction industry standards and practices.
- Advanced HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR).
