About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Application Security Engineer to join our dynamic team at Anthropic. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that security is integrated into every phase of our software development lifecycle. Your expertise will help us create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that are safe and beneficial for our users and society.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with software engineers and researchers to embed security practices from the initial design phase through to implementation.
  • Lead threat modeling and secure design reviews to proactively identify and mitigate risks early in the development process.
  • Conduct continuous risk assessments and develop tools and systems that support developers in shipping code securely.
  • Shape our tooling, detection capabilities, and defenses against emerging threats in the AI/ML landscape.
  • Establish standards, processes, and educational resources that empower all Anthropic engineers to become security champions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Application Security Engineer or similar role, ideally in an AI-focused environment.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding best practices and threat modeling techniques.
  • Experience with security tools and technologies relevant to application security.
  • Ability to think like an attacker and understand the mindset required to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to build strong relationships with cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in AI/ML security.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and security standards.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or similar.
