Principal Enterprise Architect - Cloud and Infrastructure

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Enterprise Architect to join our team at NiSource. This Principal Enterprise Architect remote position involves leading architecture initiatives that align with our business strategy. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with various departments to ensure that our architecture vision is effectively implemented.

What You'll Do

• Provide senior-level expertise on overall direction, guidance, definition, decisions, and priorities regarding the enterprise’s overall architecture.
• Interact with business leaders, IT leaders, vendors, and industry experts to translate business requirements into architecture blueprints and high-level solution designs.
• Act as a visionary to proactively assist in defining direction for future projects and help business leaders think through the implications of their technology investment decisions.
• Review, advise, and design standard software and hardware builds, system options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact on the enterprise business processes.
• Facilitate the establishment and implementation of standards and reference material that guides the design of technology solutions.
• Lead architectural collaboration and governing processes, including Architecture Review Boards and Solution Architecture reviews.
• Research, analyze, design, propose, and deliver solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies.
• Track industry trends and maintain knowledge of new technologies to better serve the enterprise’s architecture needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of relevant enterprise-wide architecture experience.
• Deep knowledge of cloud domain technologies including Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, and Mulesoft.
• Strong consultative skills at a cross-functional level.
• Knowledge of TOGAF, ITIL, and other architecture/business process frameworks.
• Leadership competencies in organizing and setting priorities, managing and measuring work, and motivating others.
• Experience with API-first design patterns.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud capabilities such as APIs, Automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
• Familiarity with security protocols and service operations.
• Previous experience in a utility or regulated industry.
