About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated PhD Candidate in Renovation Passport Development to join our innovative team. This remote opportunity allows you to contribute to the energy transition in the construction sector, which is crucial for sustainable development. As a PhD candidate, you will explore how to reshape economic, legal, and organizational conditions to accelerate responsible renovation practices.

What You'll Do

  • Design and test business models that promote responsible data sharing and the long-term adoption of the Renovation Passport.
  • Investigate legal and organizational mechanisms that ensure reliable transfer of building data with property ownership.
  • Co-create and pilot training programs aimed at enhancing digital and data literacy in the renovation sector.
  • Collaborate with software developers, municipalities, housing associations, and contractors to ensure practical relevance and policy alignment.
  • Contribute to scientific and policy debates on making digital renovation tools inclusive, effective, and scalable.

Requirements

  • A MSc degree in architecture, construction management, environmental studies, urban planning, or a related field.
  • Excellent knowledge of energy transition, circular economy principles, and sustainable development.
  • Strong skills in mixed research methods and analytical thinking.
  • Proficiency in English (C1 level or higher), and ideally Dutch.
  • Strong communication skills to engage with policymakers and stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in interdisciplinary research.
  • Familiarity with digital tools in the construction sector.
  • Interest in driving change in the construction industry.

  • A 4-year employment period with an initial 1.5-year contract.
  • Salary starting at €3059 per month, increasing to €3881 in the fourth year.
