Payroll Manager - EMEA Operations

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee and coordinate payroll operations across the EMEA region, with occasional interactions in North America. This Payroll Manager remote role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, continuity, and quality of payroll processes in a multi-country environment.

What You'll Do

  • Supervise and coordinate payroll operations across multiple EMEA countries, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and consistency of processes.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex payroll issues and cross-functional operational challenges.
  • Provide backup support for key functions within the region, particularly UK payroll when necessary.
  • Offer occasional support for activities outside EMEA, including North America and South Africa.
  • Assist the French Payroll team with complex or high-stakes activities.
  • Provide expertise on specific cases or processes (e.g., profit-sharing calculations, complex regulatory changes).
  • Monitor performance indicators (KPIs), service levels, and the quality of payroll execution processes across various countries.
  • Identify operational risks and secure the continuity of payroll activities within the assigned scope.
  • Ensure the quality of documentation, audit preparation, and compliance with internal policies and local legislation.
  • Contribute to internal and external audits as needed.
  • Work closely with HR, Finance, IT, and Total Rewards teams to ensure alignment and a high level of service.

Requirements

  • Higher education in Finance, Accounting, Management, or equivalent.
  • Significant payroll experience, ideally gained in complex multi-country environments.
  • Proven experience managing or coordinating payroll across the EMEA region; exposure to North America is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of French payroll legislation.
  • Experience managing complex situations and payroll escalations.
  • Proficiency in integrated payroll systems; knowledge of SAP is a plus but not essential.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong data analysis capabilities.
  • Natural leadership, influencing ability, and comfort in a matrix environment.
  • Fluent English is essential.
