Optical Assistant - Retail Customer Support

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Optical Assistant to join our team at Boots Opticians. As an Optical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in our store, being the first and last point of contact for our customers. This position is perfect for individuals who are passionate about customer care and eager to learn. You will be working in-store, directly engaging with customers, and helping them find the right eyewear solutions. This is a full-time position, and you will be expected to work a variety of shifts, including evenings and weekends.

What You'll Do

  • Welcome customers to the store and assist them in their eyewear selection process.
  • Support with eye tests and pre-screening activities, ensuring a smooth customer experience.
  • Order, dispense, and collect glasses and contact lenses, maintaining high standards of service.
  • Provide aftercare support, including repairs and adjustments to eyewear.
  • Complete operational and administrative tasks related to dispensing prescriptions.
  • Maintain shop floor standards to ensure a welcoming environment for customers.
  • Participate in our ‘Step Into Optics’ training program to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Passion for customer care and a desire to learn and develop professionally.
  • Strong communication skills to build relationships with customers.
  • Experience in a retail or clinical environment is a plus, but not essential.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience in customer service or sales roles.
  • Interest in optics and healthcare.
