About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Network Technician I to join our team at SAIC. This Network Technician I remote position allows you to work from anywhere within the United States, providing you with the flexibility to balance your professional and personal life. As a part of our Network Operations Center (NOC), you will support multiple client networks, ensuring their optimal performance and reliability.
What You'll Do
- Inspect LAN/WAN infrastructure to identify and resolve minor or major issues.
- Perform troubleshooting to system failures and identify bottlenecks to ensure long-term efficiency of the network.
- Evaluate network performance and implement improvements.
- Test, configure, and maintain network hardware and peripheral devices.
- Assist end-users in identifying and resolving network-related issues.
- Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without disrupting others' work.
Requirements
- Associate's Degree in Computer Networking/Engineering or related field, or 1-3 years of IT experience in a Service Desk or Direct Support position.
- Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols, and network technologies.
- Familiarity with the OSI and TCP/IP models.
- Understanding of concepts and best practices of Network Security.
- Knowledge in SSH and accessing network hardware via CLI.
- Hands-on experience with common software and hardware.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
- CompTia Security+ CE certification.
- CompTia Network+ CE certification.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate certification.

Who Will Succeed Here
Strong understanding of LAN/WAN technologies, with hands-on experience in configuring and troubleshooting network devices using CLI, particularly Cisco or Juniper routers and switches.
Ability to work independently in a remote setup, demonstrating self-motivation and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently while supporting client networks.
Familiarity with network security protocols and tools, including SSH and firewalls, with a proactive mindset towards identifying and mitigating potential security vulnerabilities.
