Network Engineer - Hybrid Role with Relocation Support

About the Role

We are seeking a Network Engineer to join our team at Consumers Energy. This Network Engineer remote position offers a unique opportunity to work in a hybrid environment while contributing to the design, implementation, and maintenance of our network infrastructure. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our systems, all while enjoying the benefits of relocation support.

What You'll Do

• Support the configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to implement network changes and improvements.
• Maintain accurate network diagrams, documentation, and asset inventories.
• Participate in on-call support rotation and respond to network incidents.
• Follow change control and incident response procedures.
• Assist in the implementation of network security protocols and compliance controls.
• Work with cross-functional teams to support IT projects and system rollouts.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network issues related to connectivity, latency, and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years of hands-on experience in IT or Network Administration, or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with common network tools such as Wireshark and SolarWinds.
• Strong foundational knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrates a willingness to learn and grow within the field.

Nice to Have

• Experience with network security concepts.
• Knowledge of VPN technologies.
• Hands-on experience with wireless technologies.
