Mid-Senior Training Specialist - Nuclear Operations
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Mid-Senior Training Specialist to join our team at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). This Training Specialist role focuses on nuclear operations and is pivotal in developing and delivering training programs that ensure compliance with nuclear safety standards. As a Training Specialist, you will lead the development of qualification and certification programs, enhancing the skills and knowledge of our workforce in a high-stakes environment.
What You'll Do
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of training programs for Radiological Control (RADCON), Nuclear Material Control & Accountability (NMC&A), and Safeguards & Security.
- Utilize the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) to create effective learning experiences that align with organizational goals.
- Conduct comprehensive needs analyses to inform training design and strategy, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with managers to identify training priorities and develop tactical plans for resource allocation.
- Monitor training program effectiveness through assessments and performance metrics, driving continuous improvement in nuclear training.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to execute large-scale learning initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies for all supported nuclear personnel.
- Provide strategic input on leadership development and organizational change management initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in education, training, instructional design, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in training program design and delivery, particularly in a regulated industry.
- Demonstrated experience in nuclear training or a Nuclear Navy background is highly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in data analysis for evaluating training effectiveness.
- Ability to work at multiple sites, including the Losee Road facility and the NNSS.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.
Nice to Have
- Master’s degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with modern learning technologies and instructional design methodologies.
- Knowledge of DOE standards and regulatory compliance applicable to training programs.
