Mid-Senior AWS Security and Compliance Engineer - Remote
About the Role
We are seeking a Mid-Senior AWS Security and Compliance Engineer to join our fully remote team at Rubris Inc. As an AWS Security and Compliance Engineer, you will play a crucial role in optimizing our cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across our AWS environments. This position is ideal for candidates residing within 2 hours of Eastern Time.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-efficient AWS architectures.
- Lead modernization initiatives, including migration to cloud-native services and containerization.
- Own Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) strategy using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and reduce downtime.
- Research and evaluate AWS AI services like Bedrock, Comprehend, and SageMaker.
- Manage and improve production systems with a focus on resiliency, observability, and automation.
- Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, EventBridge, etc.
- Drive incident response, root cause analysis, and preventive actions.
- Implement and maintain cloud security controls aligned with industry standards.
- Collaborate with security teams to support compliance (SOC2, ISO27001, etc.).
Requirements
- 5–8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering.
- Expert knowledge of AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, DynamoDB) and Shared Responsibility Model.
- Strong proficiency with Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices.
- Experience in mapping technical controls to regulatory frameworks.
- Proficiency in a scripting or programming language (Python, Go, etc.).

- Experience in governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) frameworks.
