Microsoft Synapse Lead - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are looking for a Microsoft Synapse Lead to join our team remotely. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and leading the development of enterprise-scale data platforms built on Azure Synapse Analytics. As a Microsoft Synapse Lead, you will combine strong technical leadership with hands-on architecture and development, ensuring scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions that support analytics, reporting, and advanced data workloads.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design and architecture of data platforms using Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Oversee development of data pipelines, data lakes, and data warehouses in Azure.
• Design and implement ETL/ELT processes using Synapse Pipelines, Azure Data Factory, and Spark.
• Establish best practices, standards, and governance for Synapse development and data engineering.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineers and developers.
• Optimize data models and queries for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Integrate Synapse with other Azure services such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Databricks, Power BI, and Azure Purview.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Ensure data security, compliance, and governance policies are implemented.
• Monitor platform performance and troubleshoot complex data pipeline and processing issues.
• Participate in architecture reviews and roadmap planning for the enterprise data platform.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or analytics platforms.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics.
• Strong expertise in SQL, Spark, and distributed data processing.
• Experience building data lakes and modern data warehouse architectures.
• Proficiency with Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure SQL.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT patterns and data modeling (Kimball, star schema, etc.).
• Experience integrating Synapse with Power BI or other BI tools.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data platforms.
• Strong problem-solving and performance tuning skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Azure Databricks or Spark-based analytics.
• Knowledge of Data Governance and Data Catalog tools (e.g., Azure Purview).
• Familiarity with streaming and real-time data architectures.
• Microsoft certifications such as Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203) and Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
